CIVIL SOCIETY CONSULTATIONS ON THE AU THEME OF THE YEAR
Background
The Economic, Social and Cultural Council (ECOSOCC) is a civil society advisory organ established by the Constitutive Act of the African union (AU), as a policy development interface that will harness civil society expertise to the work of various Departments of the African Union Commission and the AU at large. Through the ECOSOCC, the AU seeks to implement its principle of “participation of the African peoples in the activities of the Union” and the recognition of “the need to build a partnership between governments and all segments of civil society. The African Union has declared 2021 as the Year for Arts, Culture and Heritage – Levers for Building the Africa We Want. In view of the same, ECOSOCC is calling Civil Society Organizations/Experts who wish to contribute to the dialogue to join one of the four Working Groups ( as listed below) by signing up here. An inception meeting will be held via Zoom on 2nd July and two working sessions are scheduled for 12th and 26th July 2021. Deadline for Registration – 18 June 2021
