The Call for applications for South-North and South-South mobility Fellowships for the Least Developed Countries (LDCs) is now open.

The UN Technology Bank for Least Developed CountriesTWAS and ICGEB  offer early-career scientists from the 46 least developed countries (LDCs), aged 45 or under, exchange visits of up to 6-months at the ICGEB laboratories in Trieste (Italy), New Delhi (India) and Cape Town (South Africa). 

Under the programme agreement called PACTs (ProgrAmme of CollaboraTions with LDCs), eligible students will be working in the fields of biomedicinebiotechnology and agriculture. The Programme will also include a third scheme to provide training in biotechnology policy and regulatory science by ICGEB experts.

Students will be supported to undertake training in the development and management of research projects, grant writing, teaching and knowledge transfer, and other scientific soft skills relevant for a career in Science & Technology.

Prospective Fellows can apply by logging into the application portal (below), filling in the online application form, uploading all supporting materials, and submitting their application materials before 31 August 2021.

  1. I’m grateful for this kind of opportunity posed to Africa especially for my country Sierra Leone. I want to believe more focus will be to my country because we’ve been behind for long in development due to several misfutunes.
    Again, I appreciate the limit indicated but I want to appeal to stretch it to 50.
